To all the mad scientists out there: since I've discovered this hobby I've been wondering whether or not one could make a planar magnetic/electrostatic hybrid with some sort of cross-over playing to the strengths of each driver (e.g., set the headphones so it has a ortho and electrostatic driver per ear such that the orthodynamic driver is utilized for the low-end so you get their tactile impact, but the electrostatic is set for the highs/mids so you get their clarity/resolution).
Could this be made on a theoretical, or better, a practical level? I think the biggest obstacle would be their very different amping requirements, but a boy can dream, right?
