Is it normal for a stylus to be crooked/tilted/slanted?

I just bought a brand new Shure M97xE cartridge and the stylus looks tilted like this:

I've bought many other Shure styli in the past (N44-7 styli for my DJ M44-7 cartridges) and some of them are tilted like that as well and I'd have to hand-pick a stylus to find one that is perfectly flat. Unfortunately, there are NO stores in San Diego that I know of that carries the Shure M97xE cartridge or stylus, so I had to order it from Sam Ash.

Is this normal and will it affect the sound quality? I bought these audiophile cartridges to record my vinyl onto digital format.

If this is a FRONT view of the cartridge, then that is defective, and you should return it.

Ditto. Todd gives excellent customer service and the quality control is superb.
The big box guys often only care about sending stuff out the door as quickly as possible, that is why I avoid them if possible.
