Hello,
I bought Sony NWZ-W273S almost over a year ago from B&H Photo and in early September warranty period ends.
Like others, I am experiencing issues with quick battery depletion and in my opinion one of batteries
was DOA because everytime I plug it in, it starts charge from 50%. Also the right earbud is always warm
after recharging while left one is cold so that is another contributing factor to suspect it has dead left battery.

Sony's support suggested to send in for repair and I would send had I lived in US, which is where I bought it when I was traveling in US. I am from Israel and Sony has 3rd party lab here (I think they are contractor) where I can send player to. I don't know about Sony but last time I dealt with 3rd party lab from HP to repair laptop has left bad impression. I assume same could be said about most 3rd party labs because if companies cannot provide normal support on the phone, imagine what kind of 3rd party labs they have contract with. You can send your equipment and receive something used or something that has subpar components if you remember how in warranty disclaimer it is often mentioned that they can use refurbished or other parts as they see fit.
Anyway, since this is my favorite player as I cannot normally exercise without this convenient device, I wanted to know (preferentially from someone who owns those) if its feasible to try replace the battery by myself, provided I am beginner at such jobs. At least I would like to see steps to be done before I consider sending to 3rd party lab. Who could have thought one would be worried about sending device for service these days when it's something he is eligible for. Times we live in...
Cheers
