I have a 40 Gb model that I've had since 2004 and the battery was replaced about 3 years ago. Now the new battery won't take a charge. I'm thinking the unit may have an internal fault that drained the battery too far. Or does it have a bad new cell?

It's not like it's my only unit or best one. My electrical engineer background wants to fix it but it might be time to retire it.

P.S. it was Rockboxed years ago.
