Along with the new ipod releases, Apple updated firmware for its older players. All ipods except the 4G and photo have been updated. Even the 1G/2G. Nothing too major, just changes that bring the menu options up to the 4G level. I updated it on my two 3G ipods (I love the all touch wheel) and the only thing I've noticed is that it added an Audiobook menu and the shuffle menu. Shuffle mode is pretty nice as the shuffle mode turns itself off automatically when you browse a song from the regular menu. Before I had to go into the settings menu to turn it off.
