IPOD 6th gen when connected to apple remote dock why is the volume able to be adjusted thru the remote and also on the IPOD. I thought this was a dedicated line out of the dock connector on IPOD. Also I have a ALO cyro dock
cable and when I use this I can not adjust the volume. So what is going on what is apple doing to the dock connector pin configuration when used thru there docking station with apple remote is this the same as headphone out and
should I just turn the volume up all the way and adjust at the amp
thanks for any INFO.

When you connect your iPod to the apple dock, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll get the line-out immediately. In order to get the LO, you must connect your dock to a headphone amp. At this time, you can't adjust the volume.
Just plug the iPod in the dock only means you can play/control by the remote while charging it.

the apple universal dock is not a true line out, there is some chip in that dock that attenuates the line level or something, this is how the remote works with it. For a true line out look at either a cheaper dock or a cable. The volume can still be adjusted on my 5.5G with the apple universal dock but I cant tell any sound difference between true line out and dock output.
