iPod 60 Photo and wired remote

I just tried using the wired remote from my prior iPod with the 60 GB, and it doesn't work. It passes the audio through to my headphones, but it doesn't control the iPod. Is it broken, or does it not work with this generation iPod?

According to this thread it should work; it may be broken. I have two bad remotes myself.

Also make sure the hold switch on the remote is not on. Seen people not notice that before.
