I just joined head-fi and this is my first post. I recently purchased the famous SR-60s after reading the numerous reviews about them, and now i am trying to find a good portable setup. The decision on the iPod between the photo and video is what I'm wondering. Vinnie, the designer of The Redwine iMod says that the photo has a better DAC converter. Is this true? The photo has the advantage of being less money, however it is bigger and you can see as many artists simultaneous, along with the fact that its just...less cool. I haven't really seen any discussion on whether the 5G does, in fact, has an inferior DAC, and i see many audiophiles using both the 4G and 5G in their portable rig set-up. Also, if i get the 4G i have the option of getting the iMod. One more thing...aside from the iPod, is the Turbodock significantly better than the Pocket Dock? or maybe the remote cable...
iPod 4G vs. iPod 5G
Turbodock vs. Pocketdock vs. Remote cable
my only concern is which will give the best audio quality, the remote also has the advantage of plugging directly into phones, so i wouldn't have to buy an amp, but is the sound quality on par with the docks connected to amps?
Thanks for any feedback!
