Hi everyone,
I’m looking to gauge interest in organizing a group buy for the Elysian Acoustics Apostle, which is normally priced at $1,800 USD. I originally reached out to Hifigo to see if they would ship to China, which is where I currently reside, and also to see if they would accept payments through Alipay (which is kinda the default payment method here in China. They wanted to find out how many units I was interested in buying, and quoted a price of $1,245 per unit excluding shipping if I buy a minimum of 5 units.
Obviously, I don’t need 5 Apostles for myself, so I thought I’d see if anyone else here might be interested in joining a group buy. I’m currently in touch with their sales team and still working out whether they can ship units individually to each buyer or whether I'd need to manage that myself. I imagine they'd be open to discussion if there’s enough interest.
I have attached screenshots of my email exchanges with them, though it's in mandarin. Translations below.
I understand I’m not a long-standing or high-profile member here, so I want to be fully transparent from the outset. To ensure everyone feels comfortable, I’d be open to arranging this through a having a well-known forum member that everyone would trust act as a middleman/guarantor/escrow, if there’s enough interest to move forward (and if there is such a head-fier that would be willing to help with this). I'm not entirely sure how this would work in this scenario though, so if there was someone here that has experience with this, I would be more than excited to hear about how to make this work.
At this stage, I’m just checking how many people would be interested—no commitment required yet. If it looks feasible, I’ll share full details, get a list going, and explore the best way to handle payments and logistics with maximum safety and transparency. I will probably close this interest check by this weekend, if there is insufficient interest I will simply buy it at retail, though I thought this was a pretty good opportunity to get this particular pair of earphones at this price.
Feel free to reply here or PM me if you're interested or have suggestions on how best to structure this. All feedback is welcome, especially if you’ve had experience organizing or participating in a group buy before.

In this first email, I asked about the possibility of using Alipay to pay for the Elysian Apostle, and what would the price it be in RMB, and if they had stock on hand.
In this second email, they confirmed that I could pay using Alipay, and that the price would depend on how many units I was interested in buying, and quoted a price of 1245 if I purchased more than 5 units.
Here I simply ask about the price if I only wanted one or two units.
