Hi, I currently have a Warwick Aperio and do streaming exclusively buy also have about 1200 CD's I ripped and store on a Roon Nucleus One server. I am interested in getting the best streaming sound to support Aperio which is a phenomenal all in one music system. I am frankly trying to determine if investing $$$ into better streamer components is worth it? I'm just not sure about how Roon handles the should to be the "All things to all people" it is designed to be?

In addition to Innous (Zen#) having a cd ripper I read a lot about its sound quality. I am trying to determine if it is an improvement over Roon(nucleus)?

Experience and thoughts welcome?

Set up configuration:
Roon Nucleus one ethernet out to my Network switch which is connected to my cable router/modem
On the other side of the room I have a rj45 wall jack out to the Aperio rj45 input.

Assuming you've got Roon optimized (turning off unnecessary services), I don't think you'll find much benefit in replacing your Nucleus server with an Innuos Zen as a server (assuming the Zen is running Roon Core) since your Aperio is isolated from the server via your network.

There are a lot of people that feel the LMS based software provided by Innuos is good. Personally, I have found that different software ecosystems -- Roon, LMS, UPNP, etc. -- sound slightly different, but it was hard for me to say one is "better" than the other. This is coming from a long-time Roon fan.

Thank you for your response. The Innous CD ripper on board is one consideration. Mainly since Aperio is not certified for Roon and won't be anytime soon is another consideration. I am also a bit concerned about new owner Harmons focus as Im sure it will be for the masses and less for Audiophiles (an assumption I know) but focusing on sound quality is my main objective and Im not sure how Roon actually handles the files as straight forward bit perfect etc. Just experimenting to see which service I can get comfortable with and put in the time to set up and customize for my Library etc
Thx again

Harman owns Mark Levinson, Revel, Lexicon, Arcam, etc. I don't think you need to worry that Roon will no longer be aimed at audiophiles. It fits into their existing audiophile brand portfolio.

Your probably correct, that said I am still not 100% on the elusive sound quality question

Not really sure what you mean by the bolded phrase but Roon is just like any other software - unless you process the file (i.e. use volume leveling, DSP, upsampling, etc) then Roon is absolutely bit perfect.
