First post so I figure it might as well be obscure!

I've got the ancient Stax SRM-X driver amp being used on Lambda Signatures. Works great, sounds awesome. Accompanying the SRM-X amp is Stax' rechargeable and insanely rare BPS-600 battery pack. As this stuff is about 25 years old (?) so I recently replaced the batteries..

More info: Batteries are a 10-pack of NiCAds that long since stopped holding a charge. They were replaced with NiCads cause there's some real circuity in the BPS-600 (a couple transistors, a DIP16 device and few other odds and ends). That seems like more than the usual NiCad charging setup though, so I figured NiCads were the way to go. Plug it in and it's all good. No smoke, the "charge" LED comes on and it powers the SRM-X after a few minutes charging, so I let it charge overnight.

Here's the question: When the BPS-600 is plugged in the 'charge' LED comes on but eventually goes out. I'm assuming that this is overcharge circuitry doing what it's supposed to do AND that, as corollary, that it can be left plugged in all the time. Obviously the manual would answer this instantly but hey, it's 25 years ago. If there's any doubt I'd just disconnect the BPS-600 but it's more convenient to leave it all together.

Any comments welcome, thanks in advance!
