iMP-550: trouble with firmware?

Firmware Version 1.1 versus 1.2

A north-american iRiverAmerica.com page lists firmware v v1.1.

I used a search engine from iRiver.com, and it came up with v1.2:

Strange that they haven't updated the iRiverAmerica.com support page. Could this be because 1.2 had some problems? I am told some users here said it was "unstable." Is that true?

Those who are having problems may want to download v1.1.

iRiver America tells me they simply haven't yet updated their web site. However, I downloaded 1.1 and 1.2, and have found that version 1.2 has an unacceptably metallic and bright treble in CD play (haven't tried MP3, but FM was fine). This is with all settings to normal/flat.

I down-revved to v1.1, and this has solved it. I've started another thread about this.
