I'm a former owner of schiit lyr2 dt770s 250ohm.

Excellent. Nice thing about Amazon is the return policy just in case. Those headphones will be a whole lot different than the 770s. I do like the 770 quite a bit and use a modded pair for LAN events etc.

Awesome. I recommend a cheap SPDIF optical cable if your motherboard has optical SPDIF out. You'll need RCA interconnects (cancel the other orders you have for RCA cables) I recommend something like these:

so I found a way to split but then I start looking into auxiliary RCA cable splitters and came up with this.

You can max out volume on Sys and rig it backwards. Just keep the pot maxed and it'll work great as an output switch.
