I will be running a Valhalla 2 as my main amp with Beyerdynamic Amiron Home's and am now at the point of looking at what dac would be best suited.

I really love the idea of something like iFi Zen Blue V2 and being able to swap songs and things like that without having a cable connected to a pc or phone. Any input on running a Bluetooth dac would be really appreciated. Never messed around with one and really have no clue if there are major downsides vs a hardwired source.

Budget would top out around $250.00 if anyone has other recommendations.

Thanks!

It takes two to tango so both source and sink must have the same protocol.
The standard (SBC) runs at 320 kbs, say high bit rate MP3.
There are codecs with a higher bit rate APTX, LDAC but be still lossy compression.
If you watch video or do gaming, the latency might become an issue.

Check how the pairing is done. If you have to do so each time you switch sources, swapping a cable might be more convenient.

I recently bought the Ifi zen blue V2 for streaming to my Audiolab 8000C / 8000PX and Q Acoustics concept 40 speakers. I also just received the Ifi powerX power supply.
Streaming from my Galaxy 22+ with Tidal
hi-res Master. Just wondered thoughts on the difference in sound I can expect from the Power X power supply over the standard wall wart supplied. I haven't tried it yet although I must say I'm very happy already with the sound I get with the Ifi zen blue V2.
Thanks ( new member Nige )
