If you should only deal with guys that have feedback, how exactly are newbies going to get any deal?

^ That's exactly the problem. No one wants to deal with a 0 feedback buyer.

Not true! I have been a Head-Fier for many years and found it quite easy to build up feedback via buying headphones and gear.
Why would sellers be hesitant to sell to members here? If both buyer and seller follow the guidelines and general rules all should work out amiably.
Unlike eBay you will find that Head-Fi is more of a community of like-minded audiophiles just looking to interact and engage with other audio enthusiasts, to buy, sell and trade headphones and equipment in their quest for aural excellence and fulfillment.

Buy from someone through PayPal or local pick up. Even with feedback nobody's gonna ship you anything if you insist that you pay with Western Union or something that is still closer to the Silk Road credit line than actual eCommerce.
