I understand all the costly upgrades...I understand the constant changing stacks. I "get" it.
When I first joined here I was looking for amp advice for the new e4cs coming in the mail. Prior to that I just browsed...thats how I got the suggestion for the e3s and the e4s. I was thrilled when I got the e3cs and preordered the e4cs and recived them right when they released. I was thrilled with those, but needed an amp. I am now happy with the e4cs, the cmoy, and the ipod mini (although I am secretly eying a new amp and source, shhh dont tell the BF)
But something was missing. I had no stack. I was fine with this at first, but then looking at all the purdy pictures made me want one. I found an old receiver in our garage, a really nice Pioneer, but it is broken. Thanks to the help of folks here I found where I could get it fixed, but it was out of my budget at the time (and still is) so thats a project for later. I asked for a vintage receiver for Christmas and got one, a Kenwood KR-750. I hooked up the old Pioneer turntable (PL-518) and the new dvd player I bought today as a source (the ultra cheap Magnavox MWD 200F) plugged in the SR-80s...and the result?
Disappontment...it doesnt sound any better then the ipod, and doesnt sound at all like what I was expecting. Guess I have to start all over now
Look what you people have done to me! I am an even broker version of my previous self!
Edit:Oh Jeez...I had the "mono" button down on the receiver...sounds much better now. Im gonna go hide under a table.
