no i don't believe marketplace sellers are authorized. since they aren't really affiliated with amazon themselves. shure only has a few authorized dealers. their website tells you who they are. my store is one of them
Shure replaced my IEMs with no receipt or anything a few months back. I did get it from an authorized dealer though. They check the date stamp on the plug to see if it is within the warranty period. I have heard that they now are a little more strict, though.
I believe anyone can list product on Amazon Market place, while some of Head-Fi's sponsors with "Authorized Dealer"ship list their product on there, non authorized dealers can do the same (such as Ebay dealers).
Soundearphones.com is one of the very few authorized resellers of both UE and Shure I have seen in the amazon.com marketplace.
They (shure) have been saying for a while and are being emphatic that the products are only covered with their warranty when purchased from authorized resellers.
I dont know what kind of deal you found but the huge discount some of those sellers are offering are worth the minimal risk of having a defective unit in the time of the warranty IMHO. I have seen as much as 40% off retail price. Also, another plus is that you might not get direct shure ewarranty but some sellers guarantee that they will cover any fees to have a defective unit repaired if they stop functioning. Basically they give you a warranty different than the offical Shure's.
