New Head-Fier
I am a professional bass player for almost 30 years and have been using IEM for about 10 years now. the company EARTUNE offers custom tips (they need molds) for several universal IEM including the Westone UMPRO50 for which I requested them. These custom tips are a great idea but unfortunately they simply does not work. The molds supposed to grab on the IEM on one side (more or less following the contour of the IEM) then go into your ear oon the other side but they don't have anything strong to create grip or latch onto the IEM itself. You are putting a custom foam tip (molded after your ear) inside your ear canal, you can imagine that this side fits the ear perfectly and it grabs perfectly, but the IEM fell everytime of the flimsy, barely hold of the foam. It was really bad. I wanted my money back but they offer to "review and redesign the tip". I gave them a chance but knew instantly that it would not work and I was proven right. I took the time to send them back with all the requested videos, pictures and explanations, and they said will review my case and "redo" the custom tips, well same thing. The only thing they did was to add some serrated grooves that don't provide any better way to grip than before. The mold does not have near enough grip to (or any way to firmly or successfully) attach to the IEM itself. When you use IEM, either universal or custom ones, (I have used both and also custom ear plugs with different DB filters for loud stages) the IEM needs to firmly connect and grip to the ear canal. This custom foam attachments can do that but at the expense of attaching to the IEM! this is not only useless but dangerous. Imagine being on stage and having your IEM detach and hang away from the foam attachments while these are still firmly gripped to your ears. NO THANKS! STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! I am still trying to get a refund. The website explicitily says that they do no provide refunds for custom tips! So please do not make the same mistake I did and burn $150 on custom tips with this company! (and the $ for the molds at the audiologist if you have to do them) please! Unfortunately, they are simply useless.
