I am playing a game called guildwar2.
The more i play, the angrier I got.

Average ping while I am in the game, is about 600ms.
The worst ping i got was 28000ms.
This is almost a dead sentence if the game is FSP game.
Not much differ in Action RPG. I am shooting at the guy, and 3 sec later, I found myself dead and the guy teleported great distance. Basically, I was dead at the point i shoot him, and he was not there. That's very frustrating.
Hope its not a proble with my internet cable. Darn... its monopoly in this area. I have no alternative.

Is there any way to reduce this delay/ping?

AMD300+, Lanparty NF4 ultra, two internal 10/100/1000 lans.

If its an occassional thing the network may be overused at that moment. If its structural my first move would be to call the ISP. Also, check for spyware, virusses, programs running in the background. Ive read that theres no real way to recuce it if all the above has been done. Getting a faster connection is the alternative.

That's called warping. Try playing on local servers if possible. If the servers you play on are in the same country, then do what the above have said. Basically it means that your connection isnt fast enough.

You might also want to forward your ports on your firewall.

That's all irrelevant really. Guild Wars is an MMORPG, local servers not an option. If OP's port wasn't being forwarded already, he wouldn't be able to connect in the first place.

I agree with Duggeh, turn off your torrents, and other downloads. It could be that BitTorrent is saturating all your available upload bandwidth, so your apparent latency (ie, ping) is very slow. That said, latency is mostly a function of the upstream network path, and there is little you can do to reduce your ping, short of changing networks. First thign to try, reboot your machine, and load ONLY your game. If your ping is ok, you were doing something on your end. If your ping is still awful, go shopping for a new ISP.

Oh, i misunderstood, thought he was also talking about another FPS game.

Try adjusting your MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit). If packets are too large they will get seriously fragmented and can cause problems. Alternately, if you are sending packets that are too small you are wasting a lot of bandwidth on header information. Also, it may be helpful to tweak your IP sliding window. If the window is too big or small it can cause problems too. You can download a host of IP tweaker programs out there. I have cable internet and it came with one that offered to "tweak" my setting for use on its network.

Nothing but a game while I am on it. No other downloading programs. I keep my computer as clean as possible. No eyecandies like screen theme or background photo. It can't be more simple than this.

Here's my configuration. I have two computers. Let's say comp1 is mine, comp2 is second computer. Comp1 has winXP sp3, AMD3000+, nvidia NF4 chipset, 1G memory, 6600 video, two internal lan port (one is marvell, the other is nvidia internal lan). Comp2 has winXP sp2, old althone XP1600+, VIA KT333 chipset, radeon 7500 vid, and cheap realtek NIC card. They are connect with cross cable to share the internet. Basic internet sharing configuration if i might say.

These computers are old, that's why I am keeping things as simple as possible.

Problem is.. this warping thingy... only happens to comp1.

You guys remember old diablo2, right? Me and my wife play this together sometimes. So... we got in the game, and were killing mobs like crazy. then my charactor got killed when there's no monsters arround. The corpse was at the center of my screen, pots and money dropped at the corner of my screen, then bunch of bad moos closing in. When I see my wife's screen at the same time... the corpse, money and pots are at the same place, cows are all over.

This happens again and again, only at comp1. Guildwars or other games, Gamemates keeps asking me stay close. Whaaaa? I am right next to you, aren't I? Apprearantly I am not in his screen. I gave up on mesmer, and interupt ranger. LOL.

So, actually... I suspect this warping thingy and delay is happening in my comp1. There's something inside the computer makes this lag.

What I am going to do today is, I am rolling my OS back to service pack2. Not sure this is caused by XP service pack3 though, I didn't have this much delay with service pack2. I will let you guys know.

So do you have a broadband internet connection? Why not invest in a router? If you're a bigtime gamer with ping on your mind, look into routers with Auto-QoS features. You could also get an add-on device like the Hawking HBB1 or D-Link DI-102, but they cost almost as much as a router with auto-QoS.

Sounds like a problem with that computer not the connection. Check the CPU fan for dust. If it gets too hot inside it can overheat and slow down. Defrag. This can speed things up. Get the latest drivers for your video card. Did you install anything recently? Let us know if the rollback fixes it.

What? Guild Wars 2? It's in alpha developing stage without a release date.
