There are lots of ways. Most people just heatshrink over the split. If you do some searching at electronics stores, especially surplus stores, you should be able to find some two-leg heat shrink boots. I accidentally found them on McMaster-Carr. They have two, three and four legged boots, mostly in sizes on the larger size. The smallest two legged boot was still maybe twice as thick as needed for an average headphone cable (though not an interconnect). And costed like $12 a peice!

You could also use small diameter flexible tubing wyes (Y connector) and heatshrink over that. Check USPlastics for that.

I thought up a method involving epoxy resin die casting that's really easy and will look quite professional if done right. I'll be trying it probably sometime in the next week or two, hopefully it'll work out. It's similar to how I plan to make my own HD580/600/650 connectors from scratch.

thanx, yet my question is not how to cover the y split, but how to do it.

i dont exactly understand, do you just strip the wire and connect it to another 2 wires, one for each channel?

thanx
