Hi all,

This is a very simple question I'm sure.

I have a 3.5mm mini-headphone jack to RCA cable - and what I want to do is to connect the headphone-out on my laptop to a headphone amp (in this case the Baby Orpheus).

When I connect (powered) speakers to the headphone (or line) out then I hear the sound out of the speakers.

When I connect up the mini-jack to RCA cable to the laptop, followed by the RCAs into the headphone amp etc - then all I hear is the sound out of the left channel at very low volumes only.

Any ideas as to why and how to properly connect the two up?

Thanks,

are you sure that your mini-to-RCA cable is stereo and mono??

I've connected the mini-rca cable into a mini-hifi system via its headphone-out - and it plays perfectly well, although a little quietly - I have to turn the volume up on the mini-hifi and on the headphone amp - but then it does go very loud.

So yes, I think the cable is definitely stereo and definitely works.
