How come modular cables are common with IEMs but not with over-ears?

Fiio's new FT3 headphone comes with a modular cable, much like their IEMs do. I've seen this with other IEMs as well, but almost never with full-sized headphones. Why is that? Would you like to see modular cables with full-sized headphones or do you think they work best with IEMs?

As someone who doesn't like and will probably never use IEMs, it's a bit disappointing.

I think the portability concern with IEMs makes it a little more useful, so you don't have to carry around multiple cables. Having multiple cables doesn't create quite the same issue with full-size headphones. With that said I think there's definitely a place for modular headphone cables, and there are good aftermarket options out there:

Hart modular cables are almost a must-have if you have multiple amps with multiple headphones. My collection is ever growing, here is an old pic.
