**Sensational UPDATE at the very end of this post!**
Kimbo Slice's camp decided about two hours before
the fight to accept the challenge from the late replacement Seth Petruzelli.
Well, neither Kimbo Slice himself nor Kimbo Slice's camp knew anything
about Seth Petruzelli.
Kimbo Slice was preparing for a long time to fight Ken Shamrock, see here.
He was not prepared to fight Seth Petruzelli.
(For the same reason, Seth Petruzelli was not prepared to fight Kimbo Slice.)

************************************************** *******

Saturday night I really felt all right
so I switched on CBS to watch some fight
I thought that it would be nice
to see some action with Kimbo Slice

Well, as we know, a lot was at stake
but what happened - give me a break
What we saw last night
was a short and bad fight

Honestly, I could not believe my eyes
when Petruzelli knocked down Kimbo Slice
Kimbo Slice: what have you done?
It was supposed to be some fun

Now I feel sorry for Slice Kimbo
because his career is in limbo
Hopefully Kimbo will come back soon
Otherwise, see you on the Retired Side of the Moon

Do no miss this.

Embedded Poll:
Should Kimbo Slice have fought late replacement Seth Petruzelli?
- No!
- Yes!

************************************************** ******

Kimbo Slice in his own words:

Quote:

I will fight anyone, anywhere, any time!

But what actually happened read here and here and here.

Kimbo Slice is a joke, plain and simple. He's a street brawler and nothing more. He has no technical ability and absolutely no ground game(jujitsu) and frankly, to call him an MMA fighter is kind of insulting, IMO, to the rest of the fighters that have built their career under that title. The only reason that guy is even known by anyone is because of the internet. The hype his ghetto fights generated was completely overblown and we are now seeing the reality behind it all. He looks the part, as he's a mean scruffy looking SOB, but other than that he's really got very little other than some basic stand up. They rushed him in to the spotlight to take advantage of his "15 minutes of fame" and the investors are going to pay the price for being so hasty.

For him and his camp to claim the result occurred because he didn't train specifically for Seth is absurd. He got cold knocked out by the superior fighter end of story. Personally I couldn't be more happy with the result. I hope that either two things develop from this outcome. Either 1) Kimbo actually decides to dedicate himself to truly learning how to fight and improves his game to the point where he is actually competitive and enjoyable for the fans to watch or 2) he crawls off in to a corner and is never to be heard from again.

If I had paid more than $10 for a ticket to that awful card last night I would be extremely upset. As it is, I have lost all interest in future Elite XC events. The only thing they have going for them is that it's free to watch. I really hope Trump didn't invest too much money in to XC, and instead chooses to focus on Affliction.

Obviously, it ain't easy fighting someone you haven't trained for. But, as a professional fighter you've got to be able to adjust. Having said that, I do think Kimbo was more "stunned" than anything else. I don't think the ref should have stopped the fight when he did.

He didn't appear to be intelligently defending himself, although maybe he just moves real slow.

Kimbo Slice will go down in MMA history as the most overhyped fighter of all time, Elite XC were using Seth as a sacrificial lamb for Kimbo to slaughter on prime time TV........that was the plan

Seth is not even a top 30 rated light heavyweight 205lbs fighting against the underground street legend Kimbo at 240lbs who will fight anybody anytime.

I was stunned how little it took to knock Kimbo down and ref should have let fight go just a little longer..........14 seconds what a joke, made Elite XC like like fools since they were hyping Kimbo all night.

I think it was a perfectly fair stoppage. He got socked on the button and couldnt recover...it just happened fast. Its perfectly clear if you take a look at the slow mo. I dunno...Im not sure why people like to put him down. Its not like he went from the internet straight to the UFC or anything. Personally, I could care less about any of the organizations besides the UFC. I say let him train and hone his skills in the lesser organizations and win/lose some fights and see what happens. Its probably good for him to lose like he did because it shows him how MMA really is. Ken shamrock is the ****** if you ask me.

I like kimbo but that was the biggest waste of hype, fighting and youtube viewing.. ever.

Kimbo Slice is a bum and I'm glad he was knocked off before they could angle him into a significant fight. He has no place in MMA. I don't know where all this improvement and MMA skills are that Bas Rutten has been talking about it, but Slice is no better a fighter than he was on the docks fighting street garbage.

The answer to the question is quite simply, no, he shouldn't have fought Petruzelli. If I were Kimbo's manager, I would advised him against it, simply because Petruzelli has some basic skill, and that is more than enough to beat Slice.

What if Kimbo actually had fought Ken Shamrock that Saturday night?

Imagine yourself being focused for a long time on a fighter you would fight.
He was preparing and training to fight Ken Shamrock.
I think that psychologicallly he was not prepared for Seth Petruzelli.
Kimbo's camp should have said NO to the fight against Seth Petruzelli!

Few months ago I did see only one Kimbo's fight against a fighter from Britain.
Kimbo won. Any comments about this particular fight.

By the way, I am not defending Kimbo, but Kimbo has got charisma.
I very rarely, if at all, watch any Elite ... or UFC action.

It's all about CBS, business, money, ..., money and just a slice of Kimbo.

I dont think it had much to do with him not being psychologically prepared...I mean isnt he used to showing up at a place and not knowing who hes gonna fight from back in his internet days? He just got caught...it happens to the best of them...

I tuned in to watch this also. Really crazy he went down that quick. Yea I no if the hit lands just right anyone can go down, but still. So the big question is "are we going to get to see the fight that was suppose to take place" ?

He may have not warmed up enough and got caught cold, I've seen him take bigger shots before. Stand-up is always going to be like that though, it only takes 1 good punch and you're done. That said, Kimbo really isn't anything special, he's a 1 dimensional brawler and was due to get exposed eventually.
