Hi, it's me again...
Haven't really time.
Anyway. I'm using the Sony MDR-XB700 with the Total Airhead on high gain. There is a rather loud hiss without load (when running empty). Sure the low gain has much, much less hiss, but the volume is unacceptably low.
I'm using a line-out from my iPod Classic 160GB, late 2009 version.
Is this a fault or normal? My previous cheap amp (Fiio E5) hissed this much too, but that's just really cheap and I expected the Total Airhead to be deafeningly quiet.
PS: For those of you saying "too loud", my music is all gained down to under 85dB.
