Well, modern times.
BTW, I think the Outside subforum would be a better place for such a post since GsFerrari is (voluntarily) banned from Outside.
In case he becomes aware of this thread he'll probably start a flame debate on racism and whatnot.

Someone needs to make a satire video about the trend to now have outsourced telephone solicators as well. My business has been plagued with someone calling from India that is trying to get us to give them our fax number and to sign us up with an internet advertising company. The rub is, if they get your number, they sign you up and charge the bill to your phone number. They are damm arrogant, persistant and impossible to understand. My office help almost fell for it because she couldn't understand what the hell they were saying to her besides "what is your fax number?"

I am waiting to get the next call so I can ream them out ~

I got a discover card, then I got one of the sales about credit guard bla bla bla. It's obvious it's from India, When he finish explaining the benefits bla bla bla, (I'm being in a good mood not to cut him off) I told him I'm not interested then he asked me what's the reason, then I just told him no reason, I'm not interested. He keep asking me what's the reason, make me pissed and cursed on him then I hung up. Then I called Discover customer service and told her (fortunately this time she's american) what happened and asked her to keep my number out from that sales line.
The other experience is involving my friend's HP laptop. Upon inspecting my friend's laptop, I know that her hard drive toasted and need to be changed. We know it's out of warranty and just want to get a new hard drive so I called HP tech support to tell me where can I bought the hard drive. It took me more than one hour to hold, then get transfered to another division, hold again, get transfer again, and keep happening, until I can't wait any longer and called one of online vendor if they carry hp laptop hard drive.

I can relate, except in this case, it was Citicard and the help line was not outsourced. Badgering reps are extremely irritating for me because they make me feel bad and angry at the same time (I don't want to push them off and be mean, but don't like the way they doggedly pursue you with a single offer after you've said no). I wound up calling once just to tell them I didn't want 'offers' at the end of my phone calls -- haven't had a problem since.

The thing is tho, those poor telephone reps or customer support (whichever country they're in) have no authority in their jobs. If they couldn't get some information from you it is likely their supervisors will be dissatisfied and make their lives even harder. They are usually under qualified and in dire economic needs (why do you think they seek that job in the first place?), so all they could do to prevent their asses from being kicked is to push the customers. I'm sure they hate it equally, but that's the only way they can earn a living.

It's all quite sad, really.

Saxphile, All this time, I've tried to be polite with sales rep and most of the time if I told them that I'm not interested and there's no reason from it, they will stop asking me and told me that if in the future I'm interested just to get them a call, I guess that discover sales rep didn't learn sales etiquete 101

I certainly wasn't accusing anyone. I apologize if I implied that in anyway. After all, I have done my share of yelling at sales reps.

Well, i could care less. If this place started catering to any one individual because they may be offended, then this forum would be in the toilet.
