I search for good recordings of cars for a long time and I can not believe it, but it is a common problem of the whole internet. There are practically no high quality recordings of cars. Even when I find a video with a title of ''sound'', the sound is just horrible.

This is the first real undistorted sound I have heard. But a lot of people actually dislike it, for some reason.

You could always watch Bullitt.  I remember being at the Lollapalooza '94 concert in California and the audience was absolutely mesmerized by the car chase scene that was played on the giant main stage screen with the sound cranked up.  The Smashing Pumpkins began playing immediately after the video ended, but for many of us, that video was the highlight of the entire concert.  I still recall it today, and it is probably the thing I remember most, or could probably share in public.

It is expensive to record cars. I have a friend that recorded cars for manufacturers' commercials  for a few years. He would put small DPA microphones under the hood, in the wheel wells, and by the exhaust. It pretty much destroyed thousands of dollars of microphones each session. Car commercials movies and maybe racing games are the only ones with the budget to risk and destroy that much equipment. Racing broadcast seem to have microphones in the cars now to go with the live video feeds.

I wouldn't even need microphones under the hood, just good microphone anywhere. If some youtubers would have a quality mic, it was intended for recording voice, so bright sound.
Where I am actually getting great sound is in games, for example Most Wanted 2012, which sounds actually amazing, most cars there sound as they should. Another game is Driveclub, it seems they were recording it inside and outside of the car.

I've always rather liked this one:

That is great! Thank you.

What is your goal?

Just an ordinary youtube video, but a quality mic, and especially flat/balanced frequency response. I don't even mind if it was outside of the cars.

I would like people to throw here any kind of videos/recordings with good sound.. later I can make a nice list in the first post with them.

One of the fellows from Pink Floyd, Nick Mason,  has a large collection of rare racing cars.  He released a coffee table book with excellent photographs and a short history of his more notable cars.  Included with it was a CD with recordings of each on a race track.  Now it wasn't necessarily the finest recording possible depending on your wishes.  But it was interesting.

As far as other available recordings you seem to find much better sound recordings of motorcycles.

A search led me to this thread. I have a similar request. I remember I had an album of test tracks and one of the tracks was at a raceway (don't recall which type) where it pulls into the pit. Anyone know what album that was from?

I know it's not high quality recordings on vinyl (I know someone who had these) but I like what I hear.

cheers.

And even the 919 V4 sounds epic: https://youtu.be/Fwo9R5eFXb8

And the cornering speed is just insane.
