Hello I'm somewhat new to the world of music, I recently purchased a Beyerdynamic DT880 premium 250 ohms in a pretty good sale, I don't have monitors at my place because of money and noise issues so I want to use them to try my new Roland JD-XI that should arrive soon, question is: can it power my headphones in a proper way or will I need to buy an amp to get the proper sound from them? Thanks in advance for the advice :)

Frankly, IDK. There is no information online about that synthesizer's headphone output. I suspect it will be fine. Sure it won't sound like you're monitoring out of a HD800, but it should get the job done. If you're really worried, I would just get a good old pair of Sony monitoring headphones. They're industry standard, and worked fine with all the recording gears I've tried(not that I've tried that many).

Wait for the synthesizer. If you can't get enough volume out of it, get an amp. If not, it's alright. People always say you need an amp, but unless you're talking audiophile, amps are usually unnecessary.

I would think it will not drive them too well as most equipment outs are for monitoring and they tend to be lower impedance. Agree with the other poster wait and give it a listen first and if you aren't satisfied then look for a amp.
