This is gonna be an off the norm review because I’m not gonna talk about features . I’m gonna speak of some things most reviewers never mentioned which I believe are very important points to get the maximum enjoyment out of this product .

I got these months ago and to be honest I was expecting magic because they’re Hifimans . I was at first disappointed but hear me out . I started playing with the different tips and found out that these are extremely finicky with tip selection and it took me a while to figure out what I know now . I found out that long tips don’t work well with these plus then they don’t fit in the egg shaped charger . I think long tips cause too much refraction inside the tube , puts the driver too far from the ear and totally ruins the sound . For me personally I found that short tips that put the driver closer to your ears work best and fixes most of the sound issues . It’s a very good driver . It’s the same driver used in the RE600 Songbirds which I also have . A good seal is important for bass reproduction as well . So I cut some foam tips to make them shorter and they actually made these sound better over all the other tips and worked out very well . Not only did this fix the sound pretty much for me but now they fit inside the egg with the foam tips on . Try it . This might even work on some other IEM's too .

These are not for critical listening and I think most people miss that point . These are for the experience and convenience of enjoying music and or use your phone completely wireless and on the go and they do that very well . They use a very good driver that’s capable of great music reproduction and I think their only audiophile flaws come from the electronics pushing the drivers . Think about it for a second here . These have in each side a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver / transmitter , a battery , a DAC , a headphone amplifier , a mic , the Topology driver , a control button and who knows what else in a space that measures in millimeters and not in inches . It’s amazing to me that they can do so well .

So how do they sound to me at this point and after working with the tips and applying some equalization and DSP bass enhancement ? The tip selection and sound processing was necessary cause they sounded shouty and bass light at first but now they sound pretty good . I’ve heard a few TWS products prior to these and I clearly prefer these in sound quality and even over lots of IEMs once you work with them . The bass is not boomy , it’s clean and you can distinguish every note . These are not bass cannons but have bass none the less . The bass and midbass lack some impact but there’s lots of detail and definition . The mids are clean for the most part and you could pick out everything in a song with decent tone , good separation of instruments but they are a bit forward in my opinion . The highs are pretty clean , they have a pretty high rolloff point and are not offensive in any way . The fact that I apply EQ to lower the mids from 1k to 4k and a DSP bass enhancer to increase bass but I don’t touch the highs on these should say a lot about the highs . I think someone at Hifiman like highs .

Sound stage and imaging ? Not bad . They are not extremely wide but are actually wider than most IEM’s especially TWS units . There is good instrument separation and lots of detail , even some width along with some height . My only complaints with the sound is out of the box these are too mid forward and lack low end but you can fix that by using an EQ and a bass enhancer plus using the tips as mentioned . They also don’t handle complex music too well at max volume . They do reveal lots of detail but if you put something on with lots of complexity they tend to loose some detail but only at max volume levels . Again probably an amplification limitation . These play well at low and medium volume but at max volume things can get congested at times .

What else can I say ? If you want something for critical listening then stay home , get some Sundaras , Aryas or some HE1000’s and go at it . Or perhaps some Ananda BT’s ? If you want to listen to some tunes while doing some yard work streaming music from a phone left on the porch totally wireless and for a hundred bucks then get these . Every product has it’s purpose . To me outdoors or in public is not an ideal place for critical listening anyway cause it tends to get too noisy . Outdoors you just need something that sounds good and enjoyable and not annoying . Something with lots of conveniences and features and these check all those marks and do them very well in my opinion
