After having the use of the loaner HM-801 from Fang I agree w/ the above impressions. I have had great success w/ the RE252 and the OK1 w/ the HM-801, the sound is much more satisfying as compared w/ an iPod and IPhone w/ LODs and external amps. As far as full size cans I really enjoyed the RS-1, a bit surprised at how well the HM-801 drove it.
I also agree the interface is not the easiest and that storage can get expensive if you buy 3 or more of the 32 SDHC cards. Although the HM-801 is a larger unit than the iPod or iPhone it balances out when you add an amp and LOD to the Apple gear.
