I've rowed on Concept II ergs for about 8 years. I love them.

I bought my own about 2 years ago and use it daily. I think I bought it for $800 direct from their site.

What he said. No competition.

Though, if I rermember correctly in the health club, there were some other brands that had TV screens with racing games and stuff. But, if you are serious, there is only the Concept II.

Next question - what headlphones do you use on the ergometer?

i worked at a weight equipment supplier place for awhile, they'd buy used gear from gyms, repaint it then sell it for like new... Yet you could always go in and bargain on some older equipment, real gym stuff costs 1000's, so maybe you can score a deal on something rebuilt from awhile ago, like a cybex or nautilus machine.
