Hello HF!
After heavy use since 2012, my Head-Direct / HiFiMan Re0 IEMs have finally given out and are starting to break. I need to replace them with something! Your input is appreciated.
Background: I bought the Re0 because of: a) highly detailed and super-extended treble; b) analytical-leaning sound signature; c) no bass 'boost'; and d) cheap as chips.
I've done a little of my own research and these are the finalists (I think) that would be worthy replacements:
1) HiFiMan RE-400 Waterline (£55 from Amazon UK)
2) Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 In-Ear (£80 from Amazon UK)
3) Etymotic Research HF5 (£120 from Amazon UK)
On price vs performance, the RE-400's are the clear winner, but I'm not as ... enthusiastic ... when I read about how it has more bass and less detailed, smoother treble than the RE-0s.
Could some folks please weigh in on which I should upgrade to?
Additional IEM suggestions are welcome, but please keep within the above price range. They need to be easy to buy from a UK retailer (Amazon or similar, or direct from the manufacturer).
Thank you!
