Hi guys,
As the title said, I have a very confusion about how the pre-amp and power amp perform.
From digging some of our folks' posts, I understand that:
- Pre-Amp is the one actually "drives" the headphones, or doing the "distorting job"; but it doesn't have so much "power" to gain the volume.
- Power Amp is the one does the "gaining job", or "raising the volume" WITHOUT doing anything else.
From now it confuses me because the power amps' function is "too simple", and from my opinion, all amp will distort the signal whenever the signal goes through it; so it ends up here we're going to "double-amp" or distort the signal/sound 2 times - first, a lot with the pre-amp, and then, a little with the power amp.
Could some fellows here clear that for me??
And could you guys suggest a $200-400 good power amp for me, for specific - pairing with the MAD pre-amp and it could be a used one?
P/S: Getting into this hobby costs a non-tech guy likes me a lot of time researching... and money for gearing too
