How should I set the EQ to get the best sound for EX71's?

Also, what does "Smart Volume" do?

EDIT: Wow, the "Vocal" setting sounds awesome! It gets rid of the "screechy" sound and tones down the bass a little.

just got my zen micro as well so i don't know all the feature as yet. be aware there is a Manual in a PDF file for the micro on the CD which will provide answers such as yours. as far as EQ setting for your SR-71, it seems you already are well on your way to finding out your own EQ preferences which is the best way to find out.

as far as i gather the Smart Volume allows you to listen to all you music at a set volume which would be helpful if your songs/ albums have been recorded at different volumes levels and saves you the effort of adjusting volume from one song/album to another. i don't bother to use smart volume.

people have said that smart volume significantly decreases battery life. something to watch for if youre using it.

yes. that's what mine is set as. on things without an adjustable eq i usually use the 'rock' setting, which is pretty much a V. i tried to use it as a bassline and adjust from there
