Hello Fellow DIYers,
I have undertaken a job to bring back a Marshall 5205 amplifier back to life. I need some op-amps that are direct replacements for CA1458. I have heard of some having great success with putting in MXL1013 but those are unfortunately no longer produced by Maxim IC. I was hopeing some of you DIY wizzs could help me out. I will be installing a DIP socket so I am basically looking to buy a bunch of different op amps to test with.

I have uploaded the schematics here: http://img.techpowerup.org/091105/5205.gif if you want to get an idea of how this amplifier is laid out.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Frederik

Guitar amps aren't about fidelity.

As for the original question, no flipping idea. Try asking at some other forum, like prodigy-pro or diyaudio.

Resurrection!!!!

How'd those NE5532's work out? I have a Marshall, 5203 needing the same chips, but from what I've read, Marshall's can be picky about changing IC's... better or newer, sometimes causes issues.
