anyone compared HeadRoom portable Micro amp with/against Ray Samuels' SR-71 amp-seem to be a reasonable apples to apples contest in battery operated amps-using Sennheiser circumaural cans-auditioned Grado RA-1 but felt mids lacking-thanks

Haven't heard the RS SR-71 so I can't comment on that comparison. But I have heard the Headroom Micro Amp/DAC via AKG K701 &K601s, AT ATH-AD700s, and Shure ETH530s. The sound has been full, rich, and detailed. I wouldn't recommend buying the Headroom without the DAC as it adds so much versatility to the amp. Built like a tank too.
