So the only context I can think of right away is that I first looked at the Shure SRH440 and how good the tuning seemingly is but apparently I see loads of reports of shattered headbands.

The other one I looked at is the HiFiman HE400se where as you may have guessed what I don't find so comfortable is that it's slightly over budget.

Mostly for everyday use with a desktop.

For a good fiesta sound, Soundmagic HP151 closed headphones.
Little better sounding, Soundmagic HP200 open headphones.

They're great, but also have a habit of breaking after a couple of years.

@JEHL if you're able to up the budget a tiny bit, the new ThieAudio Ghost is worth looking in to. It's a truly superb headphone for its price.

The Beyers are near indestructible and have spare parts just in case, the DT770 Pro can usually be had for not much higher than $100, also very comfortable. Only obvious con is forward treble but which can be tamed using various methods.

Seems to be currently at $159 on Amazon which seems like a considerable jump over the HE400se's $109.

That being said I imagine while they trade blows in terms of sound and comfort, build quality goes heavily in favor of the I think century old at this point Beyerdynamic equipment.

I own the DT770 and HP151, prefer the Soundmagic HP151.
