I'm looking to buy some new headphones, and after first looking at more expensive headphones, I've decided that it's probably better to get cheaper headphones and just use the eq if necessary. That's when I stumbled upon Somic MH463. They seem to still hold up today, but I'm wondering if there is anything better for the money as they might need an amp and earpad replacements.  I've also heard about the some Takstars being their main competitor ie Takstar's Hi2050, Pro 80 or the Hd6000. I want something something that plays well with all genres and with movies, and I don't mind if it has to be EQ'd to get a good. I want it to have the capacity for great bass if it doesn't have it with its stock sound.
I've read that these phones sound amazing when recabled and with replacement earpads and eq.
. Which would be the best to in the following situations provided i don't have an amp?

1. stock headphones with or without replacement earpads. No EQ
2. stock headphones with or without replacement earpads. With EQ
3. stock headphones with or without replacement earpads. No EQ but with re-cable
4. stock headphones with or without replacement earpads. With EQ and with re-cable
5.All of the above with an amp

I wan't to be able to enjoy them without recableing them but it still looks like a fun and worthwhile project that I will probably do after given the headphones plenty of attention first.

BTW, my current headphones are Audio Technica FC707 and Mrice-e300 iem, with Rock Zicons eim coming in the mail.

I can provide links to music I listen to, but like I said, I listen to most genres and usually rotate every few days or every album to a new genre or sound depending on mood. For example, I was listening to Coconut Records [It's just one guy, Jason Shwartzman, who is also cousins with Nicholas Cage, and is part of the famous Capollo family] albums for most of last week, then felt listened to some Jrock like gazzette, gackt, girugamesh, and abingdon boys school for a few days, and now I'm listening to some Childish Gambino, Diplo, Logic, Bones, etc. I'll probably be listening to some classical tomorrow when doing uni studying, and then chill with some movie and anime soundtracks in the evening.
If you look at my music library its quite an odd mix.

Thank you

Takstar HI-2050 is a very nice headphone, but it's neutralish and slightly bright (unforgiving)
You can probaby make them warmer with HM5 pads.

Pioneer SE-A1000 is warmer and softer than a stock HI-2050.
And has bigger soundstage.

Yamaha HPH-200 are normally a tad more expensive but still under 100. (On-Ear design)
These are warm and punchy with smooth midrange and lively treble.

Pro 80 is similar to HI-2050 but warmer and has smaller soundstage (closed-back design)

I haven't tried the MH463.

Thanks for the info. I ended up buying the MH463 as they were the cheapest.
I saw the Pioneer's review from Z Reviews on youtube. Funny as hell! I will probably buying them if I can find them in the UK as my closed pair is soon to have its cable broken :(.
