How come when i start to rap, the beat tends to sound slower in my headphones?

as soon as i try to record my vocals with the mic on fl studio 8, the beat tends to sound slower in my headphones. this for some reason makes me rap slower and messes up the flow as i try to keep up with the beat! what could be wrong? the headphones r brand new!

If you're using Window's generic audio drivers, then you'll need to download and install ASIO drivers to keep latency as minimal as possible.
