Last night I listened to a rig that had Isoclean fuses throughout. I had no idea what he was talking about until he explained. I didn't know how much fuses cost until reading this thread, so yeah...$25 for a glass fuse vs some $.25 ceramic jobby does seem ludicrous until I remembered what one of the guys who was there last night mentioned. This guy is very frugal, hates tweaks of all kinds, but was advised by a buddy to at least give them a shot, the deal was that if he couldn't hear a difference, his friend would buy them all from him at the price he paid and therefore, it was a no risk no hassle deal. He tried them in his pre and power amps and he said it was like he bought a new preamp when he initially just tested it there. He remarked how the change was so dramatic that swapping tubes and cables never gave him the same degree of change. He lives close by, and we have very good clean power. He's tried most of the filters/conditioners out there and never felt they did anything so he went with the unit that provided him security on the cheap. So he is not a guy with more money than brains and when he said these things, I was curious and did a search. Perhaps giving them a try wouldn't be so bad? $25 is not much to lose when one is plugging them into an amp that retails for 5k. I'll report back when I know more.
