All correct. The meaning of autospawn has changed from spawn on boot to spawn on boot OR as required by applications which is obviously the better long term solution.
Alsa has also obviously come a long way even listing USB devices by USB manufacturer then number so referencing a USB card in configs for apps is easier than ever!
I really should update this with 2 versions, players that let you choose alsa devices and players that need alsa set globally to not use pulse.
