These aren't traditionally referred to as power supplies, but wall warts, with 9V battery snaps.
It's a good solution if you don't want to change the batteries or if you have a tendency to leave the amp on after the batteries run out(can destroy your cans in the case of the RA-1).
IIRC, Grado now sells RA-1's with a plug for a wall-wart built in, so I think you could send it to Grado Labs for an upgrade, and use somewhat better wallwarts with it, without needing to keep the battery hatch open.
