I've put together a quick drawing for understanding how the HF-1 will be set up to the best of my knowledge. The driver itself will be mounted in wood, similar or the same as RS-1 drivers. That is a big bonus IMO. The back cover will be black plastic, the same as 225's with a silver screen. The button will be wood with HF-1 on it.

My personal opinion... This is one of those once in a lifetime type deals you don't want to regret not getting. With them being limited to Head-Fi members only, this is the biggest no-brainer I've seen in headphones. The donation to HF for each pair sold is a great addition to an already great deal.

Kudos to John, Jude and Todd for a most outstanding project

For the C-PAD lovers. The driver housing will be the same size as the 225 and TOD assures me that my C-Pads will fit on the HF-1.

Heh, heh, that's pretty cool, thanks. That would have been so cool if it had wood outer cups too. I think there is going to be some nice sonics with that wood around the driver though. Very unique design here. What we need is clear pads so that the wood could show through!

With the wood flange on the HF-1's, I would tend to suggest "HP" series that are fastened with putty rather than pressure.

Larry means on the HP/RS/PS-compatible C-pads, you fasten them with putty/Blu-tac instead of snapping them on like the SR-compatible C-pads. Putty shown here:

Hey, I think he was talking about the "HP" C-Pads that are attached with adhesive putty instead of pressure

that wouldnt be a bad idea. if the plastic housing was see-through, that would be cool. would kinda look like 200 coats of wood finishing lol.

I think it would be best if on the outside housing ... where it usually says "The Prestige Series ... Grado Labs" ... it would say:

"Welcome to Head-Fi ... Sorry about your wallet!"
