Got scammed on Classifieds 😞

Hello,
So I just got scammed after 40 years being online…some guy offered me the iems I was looking for and I bought them through PayPal (he sent me invoice)
Paid 2140 but after some hours I got a partial refund for 1880, not a big loss but still.
It should be some new scam technique I didn’t know.
Obviously the guy doesn’t answer anymore, hope PayPal will refund the missing part

Do a chargeback if PayPal doesn't decide in your favor. They likely will because there's no signed proof of delivery for the item. It's an easy dispute to win.

Hi there! Feel rly sorry for what just happened. I just logged on into my account after reseting password, and saw this direct messages chats goin on, and people asking me to send their money back =( I don't even have a paypal, because I'm from Russia (my cards are not working there). Looks like someone was using my account for scamming =(
And I think it happened because I didn't have "Two-step verification / Two-factor authentication" here set on =( The email I got just now

And I just noticed there was a big money deal also. Damn... That's really bad (at least you recieved a bigger part of it back!)

You can see that I didn't recieved messages before yesterday even, and now got reset password email
Maybe admins can pin-point scamer's log-in location, I'm located in Kyrgyzstan for 2 years already.
Update: I set Two-step verification now (Email confirmation, Backup codes).

I also dealed with this guy, sent the money by G&S. Just now I open a dispute. It seems immediately Paypal refund the amount back to the credit card. However, I checked that the opened dispute is still under review. I'd contact Paypal again if anything wrong happens.

Forgot to update here. GS refund me every penny. The dispute was closed after the funds went back to my credit card. I believe their system is designed like this. However, my story may not apply to everyone who got scammed by this hacker (interestingly, who knows Hifi at least quite a bit).

That’s great. Seems like that GS is important to add when dealing with strangers.

Always make sure every purchase you make via PayPal is done via your credit card NEVER a debit card or a bank account. That way you have full Visa fraud protection. Someone on another site not related to headphones was selling me something but demanded I use some "special app" and refused PayPal/credit card. Huge red flag.
