Man! What a difference. You will not belive it. Bass!!!
I have two D-25S players I bought from Silicon Salvage as new old stock.
Last week I sent one to Khamphi Saga of ZCables, to do a modification job on it to increase the bass and to improve the overall sound of the unit.
Well after burning in the player since Monday evening, I must say I can not believe the difference in the sound between the two players.
The modified one is not as bright, more dynamic, the bass is more pronounced and punchy, giving it a better sound stage. I am not real good at describing sounds that I hear, but it seems a lot more balanced and natural, more accurate compared to the unmodified one.
I can't believe for $20.00 plus $6.00 for return shipping, this mod could change the sound so dramatically.
I do think a good 100 hour burn in is mandatory, but well worth it.
I think anyone who owns a D-25S and wants more bass and a more natural and balanced sound should consider this mod.
