Hello together,

I really got excited reading about all of those reporting that they use an emu 0404 (so some kind of special creative labs sound board) to listen to music with their phones.

I received my first PC when I was 7 in the 80´s and my first soundboard was the soundblaster normal for around $500 by that time. Later I bought the pro the awe 32 the audigy,...

But guess what besides roland and general midi I never heard about this pro line of soundcards from creative.

Is this something I must have to test my headphones and does it really sound cool or is it a stange that you enter after your mp3 player and before you have the money for a decent amp?

Can anybody please tell me what it is with this 0404 board.

The pro cards from Creative (E-MU actually) aren't that old either, even the oldest ones can't be out longer than since 2003. The 0404 is even newer, being of 2004 vintage. That being said, there are other nice cards available as well for up to 200$. (ESI Juli@, M-Audio Audiophile 192, E-MU 1212m.) They all require an amp - if you want to go unamped, the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 would be a standard choice.

Someone pse move this to computers-as-sauce, tnx.
