I'm looking to buy some ear buds that I will take everywhere with me, so they have to be durable, and I want optimum sound quality for a good price. I listen to mostly death metal, deathcore, etc., dubstep, drumstep, and a little rap. I like bass, and I want it to kick but not overshadow other elements of the songs. I'm thinking about Klipsch Image S4's, but I'm not sure yet. Anyone got any recommendations ? Noise-canceling would be a nice plus too.

I own the S4 and the bass is very punchy, but it alters the rest of the spectrum which isn't as good. You might want to check out brainwavz IEMs.

How much are you willing to spend?

I own the S4's and think they are a pretty good IEM. They are comfortable and suit the genre I listen to, rap, very well. For an earbud tho, if you own an ipod/iphone as many people do, the new model of the buds that come stock with the recent ipods or iphones are actually quite good. They made significant improvements over the previous buds that came stock. If you own a pair of those I would stick with them or maybe try a friends and see if the sound signature suits you. Remember, this is only for the new model of ibuds that has a rubber cable and a hard plastic connector.
