First off, let me explain what I will be doing. I'll be picking up a headphone (most likely an AD700 or AD700x), and adding a removable mic and removable cable. Going to use a 3 pin xlr for the mic, and 4 pin xlr for the main plug. It will be terminated into a 4 pole 3.5mm jack for use with an Astro mixamp.

With that out of the way, I came across someone saying to use quad star cable for recabling. I see the Mogami W2893 is highly recommended on this forum. I also stumbled upon the Gepco MP1201, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it? It is slightly cheaper on ebay than the Mogami on various sites, and the design seems similar.

Thoughts?

Also, is there a good post that has info on constructing a removable mic for use with headphones? Found a couple of posts, but nothing very detailed. Just trying to figure out the supplies needed before I dive in.

Thanks in advance for any and all input!
