Hey guys,
I am a gamer and a metal head, love the Beyerdynamic DT 990 I got 2 days ago. I was wondering if there is a good way of simulating virtual surround sound with them? I know there is a Razer surround software, but that costs 20$. Is it worth it?

I have MSI Z87 G43 Gaming Motherboard and it has Sound blaster cinema. It has options for simulating surround sound. Can I use this in games? In games, which options should I chose: Headset or surround speakers for this to work?

Thank you

I'm not sure of cinema is meant for gaming application, but it'll work of it's many to take multiple channels and reduce them into two that headphones can then play as a simulation. Choose 5.1 out or the highest option in game, and set the input channels to match and headphone out. That's assuming it's anything like Dolby headphone. You can always try a cheap soundcard like the Xonar DGX for $40 that has Dolby.

How do I set the input channels and matchout the headphone? Is it setting up speaker configuration in windows to headphone?

I actually have both razer surround and sound blaster cinema as well and i prefer sound blaster cinema for surround sound in games. It's more atmospheric.
Set up windows to 7.1 sound in the speaker configuration and set as 'headphones' in the sound blaster cinema software.

btw im interested in getting a pair of DT990 pro's. Let me know how they sound with surround sound. thx
