Gettin BIT perfect with WASAPI, but not with ASIO - help ?

Hi
I am using Foobar2000 (and winamp)
something really strength

I have tried using it with many options, and no matter what I did - it wasn't bit perfect and there was the problem that both windows control the volume and show the "waves" and so is the ASUS driver (showing music palyed and can max all kind of volume and mixing over it)
I have found a solution - I am using foobar2000 and using the WASPI (windows by pass api) with it, and now I don't have that problem!
I can't change the volume or do to it anything (wich means bit perfect)!
and sure the sound seem to be much better! (no clipping and so on)

But
Is there any other soltuion that will enable me to play "bit perfect" using windows vista 64 bit ?
And why isn't ASIO doing it?! is something "****ed up" there ?!
Also
when turn on up sampling - sometimes my PC crush, so I disable it, I don't need it, right?
And why is that?
I am using Secret rabbit btw.

Are you using ASIO4All by any chance?

I am using ASIO plugin for Foobar - the usuall one
I have ASIO card (D2X from ASUS)
Anyone?

ASIO plug in alone does not give you bit perfect. It allows you to use ASIO4ALL with Foobar, you need both.

I have used ASIO and than choose at the output ASIO:ASUS D2X
And that all!
Can you explain?
Isn't ASIO4ALL is just for guys that have a card that isn't ASIO comptabile ?

If you've read the Benchmark DAC1 USB thread here, they claim that strangely enough, sometimes ASIO does not output bit-perfect anyway....

I was skeptical at first... and then I found out my Vista sound control can control ASIO's volume. So I thought why take the risK? Switched to WASAPI and haven't looked back.

Which doesnt seem to work with the Asus driver.

Any how, WASAPI is fine, just stick with that.

Funnily, I had a problem using WASAPI with Foobar v0.9.5.6 andVista Business edition. I was getting an intermitent scratching sound, almost as if a static discharge. I thought it might be my Earmax Pro, a tube or MicroDAC screwing up. Then I realised that I had just recently switched to WASAPI. I switched back to Asia4All and the problem disappeared. Strange, can't explain it, and it might be unique to my situation.

I am getting bit perfect with ASIO4All - Vista volume control defaults to 0 and is non-functional.

I'm curious as of why it doesn't work for me. Please try going to Properties of the "ASIO" device, there's another volume control there............

Make sure the output buffer length in Foobar is 1000 or less and WASAPI should start working for you.
