I have a Sony D-EJ721 which has a optical digital output and G-Protection anti-skip circuitry. Is it normal for the motor to vary its rotational speed while running off of batteries when the G-Protection switch is in the off position or do I have a faulty unit?
The reason I ask, is that a particular DAC that I have right now inserts clicks into the sound as a result of the motor spinning up and down, both when G-Protection is on and off. If I power the player from AC, the motor maintains one speed and does not give the DAC any problems.
Thanks,
Stu
